TAI CHI CHUAN FOR BEGINNERS

 

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

To learn the First section of the Yang style short form.

This is a sequence of moves called a ‘form’ developed in the early half of the twentieth century and practiced by the Tai Chi master Cheng Man-Ch’ing of China. It is the most popular and easy to learn form, which was developed from the traditional Yang style ‘long form’. The first section of the Short Form will be taught along with the basic principles of Tai Chi. Learning the individual movements which, when added together, ultimately transform themselves into an elegant sequence. Each lesson will focus on different aspects of stance, balance and movement.

 

BENEFITS OF TAI CHI:

Tai Chi cultivates regular breathing coupled with slow, regular movements and this in turn promotes various health benefits. For example; improved cardio-vascular activity, body posture and general mobility as well as an aid for relaxation and the release of muscle tension. Additionally it can help reduce mental and physical stress. Unlike other forms of exercise this can be practiced by the young and old of all levels of fitness and benefits each person individually. Regular practice will help improve and maintain health and also make you stronger and more agile.
